Log food from a photo
Take or choose a photo of your meal, pick the closest match, adjust the portion and save it to your food log.
On Plus and Complete plans you can log a meal by photographing it. The app works out what the dish is, then takes its figures from your own usual foods first, then the recipe catalog, and only then makes an estimate.
Steps
- Select the sparkle button (Quick capture).
- If you like, type a few words about the meal in the box. They're sent with the photo.
- Select Photo, then take a picture or choose one from your library.
- Wait while it shows Looking at your photo….
- If several matches appear, pick the closest one: Your usual, Catalog or Estimate.
- Check What it was and Meal, then set the Portion, from Half to Double. Calories and protein update to match.
- Select Save it.
Good to know
- Your photo isn't stored. It's used once to identify the meal, and the thumbnail you see is your device's own copy.
- The meal (breakfast, lunch and so on) comes from your words or the time of day, not from the photo.
- A photo only ever logs food. If it isn't food you'll see That doesn't look like food, and nothing is saved.
- Figures that are an estimate are marked est. on your Food log, and the page tells you how many of the day's entries are estimates. Logging the same item again keeps the mark.
- On the Core plan the Photo button shows a lock. Selecting it shows what Plus adds, with a See Plus button. Typing and dictating work on every plan.
